Valdis Kikuts was born on December 7, 1954 in Aluksnes district village Alviski. His childhood he spent near Limbazi in Ungurpils and Litene. His adolescence he spent in his father's house in Dzlezava. He studied in Cesvaine Secondary school then continued studying in Riga, Jazepa Medina Music Secondary school. After graduation of secondary school he decided to study in Jazepa Vitola conservatory. During that period of time he joined Symphonic Orchestra of Radio and Television leaded by Vasilijs Sinaiskis. On 1986 he started his studies in Art Academy of Latvia and graduated on 1991. He continued his studies to get master degree.

On 2003 he graduated Pedagogy Academy of Liepaja where he got master degree. Valdis Kikuts works in Pedagogy Academy of Liepaja as guest lecturer.

Now artist writes his doctor's dissertation and works as lecturer in University of Latvia Faculty of pedagogy and psychology.

Valdis Kikuts is a member of Artist union. He has had many exhibitions in Latvia and abroad in Hamburg and Amsterdam. His paintings are in private collections in Germany, Sweden, France, United Kingdom, Australia, USA, Israel and more.

Every year artist has his private exhibitions and joined exhibitions. Also participates in artist pleners "City and sea" in Liepaja.
